7 January 2004

FINANCIAL advisers Independent Corporate Planning Ltd, with headquarters in Ayr, have opened a new office in Perth. Prior to this latest expansion, the company already had one office in Dundee, and another in Essex covering London and the southeast of England.

The new Perth office will be headed up by Beverley Callander (39).

Beverley was born in Paisley and educated in Portpatrick, Stranraer, before going on to the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, to gain a diploma in Hotel & Catering Management and becoming sales manager with Copthorne Hotels.

Twelve years ago Beverley underwent a career change, joining Abbey National as a customer services manager, and qualifying as a financial adviser in 1993.

Beverley now has more than ten years experience in the field, and is fully accredited by the Financial Services Authority. She welcomes the opportunity of moving from being a tied representative, only able to advise on the products of one company, to being an Independent Financial Adviser with the freedom and ability to search across the whole financial services market and tailor-make a package that is suited to each individual client.

Commenting on her new appointment, Beverley said: “People today are living ten years longer than they were only ten years ago. As the population ages, we can no longer expect that the State will look after us from the cradle to the grave. We must all take greater responsibility for the financial security of ourselves and our families, particularly in the fields of pensions and long-term care.”

Speaking from Independent Corporate Planning Ltd’s Ayr headquarters, directors Alasdair MacNab and David Miles welcomed Beverley’s appointment. They said: “We are delighted to have Beverley heading up Independent Corporate Planning’s new Perth office. She will be an excellent addition to the team, especially in the areas of investments, pensions, and inheritance tax planning.”
